Bahlil Assures Subsidised Diesel and Pertalite Fuel Prices Have Not Risen
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has emphasised that retail prices for petroleum fuels, particularly subsidised ones such as subsidised diesel and Pertalite petrol (RON 90), have not yet experienced any increases.
The government will not allow the public to bear the burden resulting from the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, which has triggered a surge in global energy prices.
Bahlil explained that the government has chosen to hold back on adjusting energy prices despite fluctuations in world crude oil prices due to the war.
“Electric vehicles are also being well served, LPG is being well served during the war issue, and diesel is being well served with prices that, alhamdulillah, have not risen until now. We have not raised the prices,” Bahlil stated during a press conference following an inspection of fuel supply at the Bolon petrol station in Colomadu sub-district, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, on Thursday (26/3/2026).
His side continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to formulate an appropriate subsidy funding scheme so as not to burden the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) or the people.
In line with this, the move to hold subsidised fuel retail prices is a follow-up to direct instructions from President Prabowo Subianto, with ministers seeking the best way out for energy subsidy matters.
The government is committed to finding solutions so that the impact of the global energy crisis is not immediately felt by the people in Indonesia.
“Pray for us from the government, especially for subsidies, up until last night the President’s directive was to find ways so that we do not burden the people. So for subsidies, I and the Finance Minister are continuously seeking the best solution, even in a crisis, but we still pay attention to the condition of our people,” he added.
