Jakarta – The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, has assured that the government will not adjust the prices of fuel, whether subsidised or non-subsidised. He conveyed this during a virtual press conference on the government’s policy response to the current global geopolitical situation. “There will be no upward or downward adjustment in the price of subsidised fuel. It remains flat, using the current price,” Bahlil stated on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. “For non-subsidised fuel, up to today, we are discussing with the Pertamina team and other private fuel stations until the matter is finalised,” he added. Regarding the timeline for determining the price of non-subsidised fuel, Bahlil only asked the public to wait until everything is discussed. He also emphasised that the price of non-subsidised fuel remains the same as before for now. “So, when will it be? Wait a moment. What does that mean? There has been no price adjustment (for non-subsidised fuel) yet. It remains the same,” Bahlil said. With the current situation and steps taken by the government, Bahlil invited the public to be even more prudent in consuming fuel. Because, he stressed, the government cannot work alone in facing the current global situation that also impacts Indonesia. “I invite all the public that in such conditions, the government cannot work alone. We need support and cooperation from the public,” Bahlil said. “How? We must purchase fuel in a reasonable and prudent manner. In our view, as a former angkot driver, reasonable and prudent means if you fill up a car with 50 litres for one day, the tank is already full. So, we will encourage that. For things that are not too urgent, I ask that we also do it prudently,” he added. In addition, Bahlil asked all the public to ensure that the information they have comes from the government. “Besides sources of information from the government, I ask that we also be more discerning in managing information. What is the goal? So that we remain stable,” he said.
