Jakarta – The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, has emphasised that domestic fuel reserves are currently in a safe condition, exceeding the national minimum standards. He conveyed this during a virtual press conference on the government’s policies in response to the current global geopolitical situation. “To all my beloved Indonesian people, our fuel reserves are all above the national minimum standards,” Bahlil stated on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. “This includes diesel and petrol, as well as gas, aviation fuel, and LPG,” he added. He further noted that this means Indonesia remains stable amid ongoing global geopolitical tensions, the duration of which is uncertain, while several other countries have implemented various efficiency measures. “We give thanks to Allah SWT, and to the guidance and directions from the President, our fuel reserves are all above the national minimum standards,” Bahlil said. Additionally, Bahlil announced that the implementation of B50, or vegetable fuel (biodiesel), will ensure that national production in 2026 reaches a surplus position. He acknowledged that this success is inseparable from the government’s efforts to promptly operationalise the Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) in Balikpapan, located in East Kalimantan. “I also convey that with the implementation of B50, insyaAllah this year we will experience a surplus in our diesel,” Bahlil said. “So, this is good news once the RDMP in East Kalimantan is operationalised,” he added.
