Bahlil: As Party Chairman, I Plan to Run as Legislative Candidate

Golkar Party General Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia responded to reports that he will run as a legislative candidate for the House of Representatives in the upcoming 2029 elections.

“Yes, as party chairman, I plan to run as a legislative candidate,” Bahlil said in Makassar on Sunday (15/2).

Previously, Golkar Party Secretary General Sarmuji responded to the prospects of his party beginning to prepare names for the 2029 presidential election, including preparing Bahlil as a legislative candidate.

“As for whether there is someone from Golkar who will be pushed forward? Yes, our General Chairman wants to run for legislature. He has already declared that he will be a legislative candidate for 2029,” Sarmuji said at the parliamentary complex on Thursday (12/2).

Sarmuji, who also serves as Golkar Faction Chairman in the House of Representatives, said his party chairman will run from the Papua electoral district as he grew up there.

“The Papua electoral district. Because Pak Bahlil was raised in Papua. He was born in Banda, but he was raised and grew up in Papua,” Sarmuji said.
