Bahlil: Allah Affirms that Wealth Should Not Only Circulate Among the Rich
Jakarta, Kompas.com - The General Chairman of Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia, reminded that wealth and resources should not be concentrated among the wealthy alone. According to him, wealth must be managed fairly to benefit all members of society. He made the remarks during a speech at the Nuzulul Qur’an event titled “Enlivening the Qur’an, Attaining Guidance, Welcoming Lailat al-Qadr” at the Golkar Party’s Central Leadership Council Mosque, West Jakarta, on Friday (6 March 2026). “The Qur’an also provides the principle of social justice in economic life. In Surah Al-Hashr, verse 7, Allah asserts that wealth should not circulate only among the wealthy among you,” he said. Bahlil stated that the Qur’an hints that economic monopolies should not occur, as they create a large economic gap. According to Bahlil, the reaffirmation in the Qur’an is in line with Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. “This is highly relevant that the meaning of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution should not be read merely as a narrative academic constitutional text, but essentially constitutes the core of what is contained in the Qur’an itself,” Bahlil explained. He assessed that the content of the Qur’an also aligns with what is the aim of his political party. “This political party is an instrument of service to all cadres of the nation wherever the party is, with the aim of achieving a just and prosperous society,” he added.
