Bahlil Addresses Power Outages Due to Engine Trouble, Promises Rapid Restoration

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has spoken out about the power outages occurring in a number of regions. Bahlil acknowledged there were problems and said they would be resolved as quickly as possible. “Indeed, there have been some troubles with several engines as reported by PLN, and we will resolve this in the fastest possible time,” Bahlil told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Thursday (11/6/2026). Bahlil stated that he is still coordinating with PLN to monitor the developments. He confirmed that the cause of the blackouts was not a scarcity of coal. “As of today, and even tonight, there is still a meeting with PLN at the office to discuss this matter. To say the problem is a scarcity of coal is not true, because our assignment has reached 170 million tonnes,” he said. Bahlil assured that restoration efforts would be carried out as soon as possible, stating that there would be no further blackout processes. “We will strive so that there are no more blackouts soon,” he said.
