Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia accompanied President Prabowo Subianto to discuss strategic energy sector issues, including cross-border electricity interconnection in the region, at the 48th ASEAN Summit.

“Indonesia continues to promote strengthened ASEAN energy cooperation to ensure regional energy resilience remains maintained, including through strengthened energy connectivity, supply diversification, and accelerated sustainable energy transition,” said ESDM Ministry Spokesperson Dwi Anggia in her statement confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.

Bahlil accompanied Prabowo to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Cebu, Philippines, on 7-8 May 2026.

During this visit, President Prabowo, together with the Heads of State of ASEAN member countries, discussed various regional strategic agendas, including strengthening ASEAN cooperation and energy resilience.

As part of these agendas, Bahlil is scheduled to accompany the President in all meetings discussing strategic energy sector issues that are of common concern to ASEAN countries.

Anggia said Indonesia’s participation in the ASEAN forum is an important momentum to strengthen regional energy collaboration amid global geopolitical dynamics.

According to her, Indonesia also emphasised the importance of regional solidarity and coordination in facing global challenges that could potentially affect the stability of energy supply and the regional economy.

This year’s ASEAN Summit carries the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together”, focusing on strengthening regional stability, economic integration, food and energy resilience, as well as sustainable development in the ASEAN region.

Indonesia’s presence in the high-level ASEAN forum is part of efforts to strengthen regional cooperation, including in the strategic energy sector, regional energy resilience, as well as strengthening connectivity and sustainable development in ASEAN.

President Prabowo’s departure to the Philippines was seen off directly by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Head of the State Intelligence Agency Muhammad Herindra.
