Baharkam Chief Avoids Comment When Asked about Horse Simulator
Jakarta — The head of the Indonesia’s Baharkam (Police Security Maintenance Agency), Komjen Karyoto, declined to comment on a horse riding simulator video that has gone viral on social media and sparked various public responses.
When intercepted at the Nusantara II Building in the Indonesian Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, Karyoto promptly ended the interview session when asked to explain the horse simulator controversy.
“That’s enough, that’s enough, yes,” Karyoto said whilst walking away from media personnel.
Several of his security detail immediately moved to separate the journalists who were interviewing Karyoto.
The horse simulator facility is located at the headquarters of the Directorate of Police Animal Affairs in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java.
In one of the videos circulating online, various police officers, both male and female, can be seen trying out the equipment under the guidance of an instructor.
In a separate statement, the head of the Indonesian National Police public relations division, Irjen Johnny Eddizon Isir, stated that the horse simulator was part of a training facility procured using budget allocations from 2016.
“The price per unit is 1 billion rupiah,” Isir told journalists on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
He explained that the simulator has various functions to assist the horse riding training process. These range from simulating basic horsemanship techniques, starting from walking, running, to gallop or rhythmic horse running movements.
Additionally, it includes simulation for learning to jump obstacles as well as training for racing and speed.
