Bahari's fate in doubts
JAKARTA (JP): The national amateur boxing body (Pertina)
turned down a request from the Bahari brothers, Pino and Nemo,
that they undergo their training for the 18th Southeast Asian
Games in their hometown Denpasar, Bali.
The boxing body chief Paul Toding said yesterday that the
decision to hold a centralized training program for the
Indonesian boxing team under tutelage of Cuban coach Isidoro
Trotman and national coach Ferry Moniaga was made at a Pertina
leadership meeting.
"We have yet to consider giving them places in the national
team," said Paul. Pino, the 1990 Asian Games middleweight gold
medalist, and his younger brother Nemo, who took the
featherweight bronze in the 1994 Asian Games, were trained by
their father Daniel. (amd)
