Bahar bin Smith Visits the Victim's Home, Embraces the Banser Member Who Was Assaulted, and Calls for Reconciliation
TANGERANG SELATAN — The assault suspect Bahar bin Smith briefly visited his victim, Rida, at his home to convey an apology and seek reconciliation. Rida’s wife, Fitri Yulita (40), said the meeting took place on the night of Tarawih during Ramadan, specifically on Wednesday evening, 18 February 2026. She said Bahar bin Smith arrived with several other people. Upon arriving at the house, Bahar greeted and hugged her husband. He then expressed his apology and asked Rida to make peace and to accept the offer of restorative justice (RJ). ‘They shook hands and hugged my husband immediately. Essentially they conveyed apologies for what happened,’ she said. Fitri revealed that the meeting included a closed-door conversation between herself, her husband, and Bahar. In the meeting, Fitri asked directly why the alleged assault on her husband occurred. ‘I asked, why did this happen? Is my husband a thief? Why was he treated like that, to be beaten?’ she said. There was even discussion about medical costs. ‘So if the medical costs or anything will be covered by him, there will be, but up to today there has been none,’ she explained. This left the victim’s family strapped for money, having even had to borrow to pay for treatment. ‘We bear the medical costs ourselves, not covered by BPJS. It has already run into tens of millions because he was treated in two hospitals,’ she said.
