Bag-snatching Suspect Detained After Hitting Two Motorcyclists in Parung, Bogor
AS (32), the bag-snatcher, was arrested by police after acting in Kampung Tulang Kuning, Desa Waru, Parung District, Parung, West Java. The suspect briefly rammed two motorcyclists while attempting to flee from residents. Parung Police Chief Maman Firmansyah said, on Wednesday (4 March 2026), ‘We have secured a bag-snatcher who operated in Kampung Tulang Kuning, Desa Waru, Parung District. The suspect is AS (32).’ The incident occurred when the victim was riding a motorcycle with her mother and a toddler on the back. At the scene, the offender cornered the victim and forcibly took the bag containing the victim’s mobile phone, ripping the strap. ‘The incident happened around 11.00 WIB. The suspect forcibly snatched the crossbody bag from the victim until it tore and caused the victim to nearly fall. The victim shouted for help while pursuing the suspect,’ Firmansyah said. He added that the suspect briefly struck two motorcyclists, causing them to fall as he tried to flee. Local residents who knew of the incident chased and detained the suspect. ‘While attempting to escape, the suspect rammed two motorcyclists, causing them to fall. The suspect was eventually secured by residents,’ he said. Officers who received the report went directly to the scene and secured the suspect along with the evidence. The suspect is now being held at Parung Police Station for further processing. ‘The suspect has been secured at the police station and is still under examination. We urge the public to remain vigilant and to report any criminal activity in their communities,’ he added.
