Badung's 'Nak Badung' Scholarship Registration Opens 1 July, Here's the Scheme
The Badung Regency Government has officially announced that registration for the Nak Badung Scholarship will open on 1 July 2026 via the official website beasiswa.badungkab.go.id. Scholarship funds will be transferred directly to the recipient’s educational institution, whether school or university, to ensure the assistance is well-targeted and to guarantee budget transparency.
‘For this scholarship, both the Motivational and Affirmative types, we distribute the funds to the institutions. For the Affirmative scholarship, we transfer it directly to the university, and for the Motivational scholarship, to the school,’ said I Putu Sudika, Head of the People’s Welfare Bureau at the Badung Regional Secretariat, on Tuesday (30/6/2026).
The programme is regulated by Badung Regent Regulation Number 8 of 2026 concerning Scholarships for Students in Badung Regency, with budgeting handled by the People’s Welfare Bureau. ‘This regulation serves as the legal umbrella, which is why the programme is placed under the Regional Secretariat, specifically the People’s Welfare Bureau, whose coordination covers the education sector,’ Sudika explained.
The Nak Badung Scholarship Programme is divided into two types: the Motivational Scholarship for new high school (SMA/SMK) students and the Affirmative Scholarship for new university students for the 2026/2027 academic year. The Badung Regency Government has also previously made education completely free for primary and junior high school students.
The Motivational Scholarship is allocated without a quota for all Badung children newly entering SMA/SMK within the Badung area, provided they hold a Badung family card (KK). The benefits covered include tuition fees (SPP) or committee fees, monthly allowances for learning equipment, and a uniform allowance in the first year.
Meanwhile, the Affirmative Scholarship is prioritised for new university students, with an initial quota of 450 recipients. The criteria for recipients include being a child of a family head who works as a farmer, having a maximum household income of IDR 5 million per month, having no university graduates in the family, and prioritising the third or fourth child typically named Nyoman and Ketut.
‘So, no matter how many of our children from Badung attend school in Badung and meet the requirement of having a family head domiciled in Badung for five consecutive years, the government will cover all costs. In the first year, they are also given a school uniform allowance,’ Sudika elaborated.
To ensure data validity and avoid budgeting errors, the verification process involves cross-agency collaboration, from the Population and Civil Registry Office to the Agriculture Office. The main selection gateway relies on verifying a minimum of five consecutive years of domicile through the Population Administration Information System (SIAK) operators in each village. ‘SIAK operators are already present in every village, and their role will be empowered and optimised by the Regent. The population administration data will be explained and certified by the respective village heads,’ Sudika explained.
Head of the Education, Youth and Sports Office, I Gusti Made Dwipayana, added that the Agriculture Office will factually verify the farmer occupation criteria based on ID card data, while economic conditions and graduate status will be based on official statements. The regency government has also set up a face-to-face consultation post at the Regent’s Office and confirmed there is no mandatory service bond for scholarship recipients after graduation.
