Badung Regency’s Transportation Department (Dishub) is finalising traffic management plans for the Canggu area in North Kuta District, Badung. The move aims to alleviate chronic traffic congestion reported by residents and prepare for the upcoming long holiday.

‘We are currently conducting mapping exercises to determine the most effective traffic management pattern to ease congestion in the tourist area,’ said Badung Transportation Department Head AA Gde Ngurah Rahmadi when confirmed on Sunday (31 May 2026).

‘Canggu is a key focus area for us to identify the most effective traffic pattern,’ he added.

Rahmadi explained that traffic management in high-mobility tourist destinations has received serious attention from Badung Regency’s government. Vehicle congestion on several Canggu roads has also drawn the attention of Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa.

‘Given Canggu is a high-mobility tourist destination, the Regent also deems it necessary,’ Rahmadi explained regarding the route assessment.

However, traffic management implementation in Canggu is unlikely to happen soon as all schemes are still being thoroughly studied. Badung Dishub is currently prioritising the Pecatu-Toyaning Road traffic management scheme in South Kuta, set to take effect in early June.

‘For Canggu, implementation is likely after the Pecatu-Toyaning scheme is operational. Our current focus is resolving the Pecatu project first,’ Rahmadi added.
