Badung Regent Distributes Waisak Aid to 210 Buddhist Families
A total of 210 Buddhist households in Badung Regency received a Rp2 million holiday allowance per family ahead of Waisak 2570 BE, to be celebrated on 31 May 2026.
Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa cautioned recipients not to use the aid for negative purposes such as online gambling. ‘I hope this aid is properly directed and utilised effectively. It must not be misused, especially for online gambling,’ he said during the Waisak holiday aid distribution event at Vihara Dharmayana in Kuta, Badung, on Thursday, 28 May 2026.
Arnawa stated the aid was provided to assist residents facing rising costs before the holiday, often due to inflation. ‘Hence, we provide this holiday assistance to counter the usual price increases attributed to inflation. Our aim is to support those in genuine need,’ he added.
Additionally, Arnawa noted the initiative contributes to maintaining religious harmony in Badung. He stressed that high community tolerance is vital for sustaining Bali’s tourism. ‘This is also an indicator of how we preserve sustainable tourism. I have no hesitation in implementing policies to provide community assistance,’ he explained.
Meanwhile, Badung Regency Social Affairs Head I Gde Eka Sudarwitha stated the total Buddhist religious holiday aid distributed amounted to Rp420 million. ‘All funds allocated for the Buddhist religious holiday aid total Rp420 million,’ he added in his remarks.
Each household with income below Rp5 million received a Rp2 million holiday aid. The aid was distributed to 210 Buddhist households across six districts: Abiansemal (11 households), Kuta (62), South Kuta (45), North Kuta (45), Mengwi (40), and Petang (7).
