Badung Regent Appoints 12 Officials, Urges Immediate Action on Traffic and Waste Issues
Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa has officially inaugurated 12 echelon II officials to fill vacant positions as heads of departments and agencies within the Badung Regency administration, along with one special staff member. The new officials are urged to promptly take strategic steps to realise the regent’s vision and mission.
“I certainly hope that the officials I have just inaugurated and sworn in will, from now on, begin taking strategic steps that remain aligned with our vision and mission,” said Adi Arnawa after the inauguration in the Kerta Gosana meeting room at the Regent’s Office, Badung, on Thursday (30/4/2026).
The Badung Regency administration recognises that the tourism sector, as the backbone of the economy, will not endure long if fundamental problems are not addressed swiftly. Critical issues such as traffic congestion, waste management, flooding, and factors related to security and comfort must be prioritised by the new officials.
“Why do I request such a vision? Because, as I often say, we in Badung are fully aware that our livelihood depends on the tourism sector,” Adi Arnawa stated, emphasising the importance of sustaining that sector.
The department heads have been instructed to immediately collaborate with other regional apparatus and relevant institutions in line with their primary duties and functions. This is to ensure that public service expectations can be met optimally within the region’s capabilities.
“So that what we expect, what the people of Badung hope for, can truly be carried out optimally according to the capabilities we have,” he added.
Although the 12 echelon II positions have been filled, there are still vacancies in the roles of Section Heads (Kabag) and Sub-district Heads (Camat) due to previous promotions. The Badung Regency administration is currently processing these appointments through mechanisms at the National Civil Service Agency (BKN).
“Yes, as soon as possible; it’s in process. Because after the promotions now, only then can we proceed,” Adi Arnawa explained.
The filling of positions is being done gradually, as it requires technical approvals from the central government to avoid administrative violations. In addition to Kabag and Camat positions, several echelon II roles such as Head of the Fire Department, BPBD, and Library Services Department will also be processed soon.
“We can’t do it immediately on our own; there must be BKN approval and the proper mechanisms. That’s why we need to wait; God willing, in the near future, we can follow up promptly,” he added.
The inaugurated positions include Head of the Transportation Department, Head of the Culture Department, Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department, Head of the Environment and Forestry Office, Head of the Communication and Informatics Department, Head of the Cooperatives, SMEs, and Trade Department, Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Department, Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency, Head of the National Unity and Political Agency, Head of the Tourism Department, and Head of the Agriculture and Food Security Department. Additionally, the position of Special Staff to the Regent for Government, Legal, and Political Affairs has been filled after the previous occupant was reassigned as Head of the Agriculture Department.
