The Badung Regency administration in Bali has successfully won the Best I Award in the Poverty Reduction and Stunting Alleviation Category for regencies at the 2026 Regional Achievement Awards for the Java-Bali region. “We dedicate this award to the people of Badung. This is not solely the success of the local government, but the fruit of collaboration among all parties,” said Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa in a statement in Mangupura on Friday. Badung Regency’s achievement was driven by its success in reducing stunting and poverty rates through a cross-sector convergence approach. Based on data from the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey, Badung’s stunting prevalence stood at 5.3 per cent in 2024 and 4.9 per cent in 2023, making it one of the lowest in Indonesia. Regent Adi Arnawa expressed his appreciation for the hard work of all elements of society and the local government who have consistently prioritised human development. According to him, stunting management must be integrated, encompassing maternal nutrition, toddler health, sanitation, and economic strengthening. “We believe that addressing stunting is not just about statistical figures, but about the quality of future generations. Therefore, we ensure all programmes run in an integrated, well-targeted, and sustainable manner,” he said. “This achievement is a stepping stone to delivering increasingly high-quality public services, sustainably reducing poverty, keeping stunting rates low, and ensuring that the results of development are truly felt by the community,” Regent Adi Arnawa stated.
