Badung Regency Launches Glass-Bottled Drinking Water to Reduce Plastic Waste
The Badung Regency Government has launched a bottled drinking water (AMDK) product in glass bottles under the brand ‘Baliss’ to reduce plastic waste usage in the Bali region. The product is the result of a collaboration with the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya and PT ITS Tekno Sains, announced on Friday (18/09/2026).
This partnership is conducted through PT Badung Hebat Jaya and PT ITS Badung Hebat. The Baliss glass-bottled drinking water product has been officially released in a limited capacity as a regional strategy to reduce dependence on plastic packaging.
“We officially declare that PT Badung Hebat Jaya and PT ITS Badung Hebat are releasing the Baliss glass-bottled drinking water product, a soft launch of this new packaging. This new packaging is specifically designed to suppress the use of plastic waste in the Badung Regency area,” stated the Regent of Badung, I Wayan Adi Arnawa, at the Kriya Gosana Meeting Room, Puspem Badung, on Friday (18/09/2026).
This premium glass bottle variant complements the existing Baliss product ecosystem, which previously featured gallon and carton packaging. The product, a result of cooperation between Perumdam Tirta Mangutama and the Badung Regency Government’s Cooperation Division, targets the government sector, hospitality, and the tourism industry.
“We hope this product will not only be utilised within the Badung Regency scope but can also reach a wider market,” said the Rector of ITS Surabaya, Ir Bambender Pramujati.
In addition to the drinking water packaging innovation, the Badung Regency Government and ITS have also agreed on human resource investment through the ‘Nak Badung’ affirmative scholarship programme. The partnership also encompasses the implementation of urban waste management technology and sustainable clean water management.
High-achieving students from Badung Regency will receive a special pathway to pursue higher education at ITS Surabaya without undergoing the general selection process. This educational programme aims to produce superior human resources with global standards who are ready to develop the region.
The launch was also attended by the Badung Regional Secretary IB Surya Suamba, officials from the Badung Regency Regional Apparatus Organisation (OPD), and the ITS rectorate leadership. Also present were the General Director of PDAM Tirta Mangutama Badung Regency, I Made Putra Wijaya, and the Technical Director of PDAM, I Made Suarsa.
