The Badung Regency Government (Pemkab) plans to add an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) adventure facility in the Badung Agro Techno Park (ATP) area, Belok Sidan Village, Petang District. This new facility is designed as the embryo of an agro-tourism destination in the northern region to preserve agricultural land while meeting food needs.

“There are several areas we will improve so that it truly becomes a destination. So people come not only to see the coffee and the view, but also to enjoy the ATV destination here,” said Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa on Friday (19/6/2026).

Adi Arnawa acknowledged he had reviewed the current condition of the integrated coffee farming area built during the tenure of the previous regent, I Nyoman Giri Prasta. In addition to coffee development, demonstration plots of shallots and garlic have been planted there, along with red-picked coffee harvesting. He has mapped out an increase in ATP’s capacity while also aiming to revive a quality coffee centre in Badung.

“This is one of the educational steps to motivate the community to continue farming, because farmers have good prospects. Moreover, Badung has a very strategic market with the existence of the tourism industry,” Adi Arnawa added.

Besides monitoring cultivation, Adi Arnawa evaluated the entire technical process from seeding, planting, to harvest time in the area. The Badung Regency Government is also preparing appropriate trading arrangements so that the food commodities produced have a clear distribution flow going forward.

“Ultimately, it is all in the context of controlling inflation in Badung. If coffee here is right, for other food commodities, such as shallots and garlic, we will create special centres elsewhere,” said Adi Arnawa.

The ATP area, which has a land area of 14.87 hectares, was specifically established by the regional government as a centre for the application of agricultural technology. To date, the main commodity developed at the location is arabica coffee by applying Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) principles.

“One of the efforts to apply technology in coffee cultivation is our cooperation with the Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Centre from 2023 to 2025, covering technical assistance and coffee processing. In addition, the Badung Agro Techno Park area implements the SIDUTA (Siswa Edukasi Wisata) programme so that students can learn about coffee cultivation,” explained the Head of the Badung Regency Food and Agriculture Service, AA Ngurah Raka Sukadana.

The educational programme is now running continuously to introduce the agricultural sector to the younger generation. A number of educational institutions ranging from junior high schools, senior high schools, to universities have been recorded visiting the location.

Agung Raka previously stated that he deliberately has not promoted tourism because the focus remains on maintaining ATP as a centre for agricultural education. The site more often receives visits from government agencies, community organisations, and educational institutions that want to study the coffee production chain in depth.

“Agencies and educational institutions that come here have a pure orientation to learn about Arabica coffee cultivation from upstream to downstream. There is also a new official Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) there, whose head we have appointed and who began serving as of 1 March 2026,” said Raka.

The application of agricultural technology in this area includes the selection of superior seeds, spacing arrangements, management of protective plants, irrigation systems, and post-harvest handling. An example of its success is seen in coffee plants that have already borne fruit before the age of two years, as well as the rescue of plants that were nearly dead due to drought using drip irrigation methods.
