The Badung Regency Government (Pemkab Badung) has once again organised the untidy utility cables. This time, the integrated utility team of Pemkab Badung cut telecommunication network cables hanging over Jalan Raya Darmasaba in Abiansemal Subdistrict. “We organised it in Darmasaba with a length of approximately 1.7 kilometres (km) because we have built the utility network under the sidewalk and it has already been utilised,” said the Head of Road Infrastructure at the Badung Public Works and Public Housing Department (Dinas PUPR), I Putu Teddy Widnyana Putra, on Friday (10/4/2025). Teddy explained that utility facilities have been built on both sides of the road and are already being used by providers. He emphasised that the organised network is no longer in use because the active network has been installed underground. The utility cable enforcement involved personnel from Dinas PUPR, the Environment and Forestry Department (DLHK), and the providers, with security provided by Satpol PP personnel. According to Teddy, this enforcement was also accompanied by the Badung District Attorney’s Office. Before cutting the hanging cables, Dinas PUPR Badung had requested service providers to relocate the cables to the underground facilities. “We have informed the providers about this cable cutting. They have already taken action, gradually lowering them,” Teddy stated. In accordance with the Regent of Badung’s instructions, he said that cable cutting will be carried out twice a month. Dinas PUPR Badung has also determined enforcement points while waiting for all active networks to be relocated under the sidewalk. After the Darmasaba area, the joint team is scheduled to target the Seminyak tourist area in Kuta. This follow-up enforcement is planned for mid-April.
