Badung Regency Authorities Demolish Three Illegal Structures Following CFD Trial

The Badung Regency Government demolished three illegal buildings situated on the pavement of Jalan Teuku Umar Barat, Kerobotan Kelod, North Kuta, on Sunday (30/08/2026). The demolition was carried out by the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) in collaboration with the Badung Environmental and Cleanliness Service (DLHK).

The illegal structures were identified by the Regent of Badung, I Wayan Adi Arnawa, during a trial run of the Car Free Day (CFD) in the area. Adi Arnawa noted that the structures were disrupting the aesthetics of the area and interfering with public facilities, subsequently ordering their removal.

“Following the Regent’s instructions during the CFD, we worked alongside the DLHK to clean and transport the debris from the demolition. We immediately executed the initial physical cleaning on the ground,” said the Head of Badung Satpol PP, I Gusti Agung Ketut Suryanegara, on Sunday (30/08/2026).

The three structures targeted by the officers were being used as food stalls, a saddle repair shop, and a second-hand clothing stall. Officers employed a persuasive approach during the demolition process, allowing owners the opportunity to secure their valuables before assisting in leveling the structures and clearing the remaining materials.

“Of the three owners, only one has been recorded and their ID card (KTP) has been secured on-site. The other two owners have not yet been located and will be pursued immediately,” said Suryanegara.

Owners caught in the enforcement action are scheduled to undergo investigation and guidance at the Badung Satpol PP Office on Monday (31/08/2026). Violators are also required to sign a statement undertaking not to repeat the offence and face sanctions under Badung Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 7 of 2016, which include a maximum fine of Rp 25 million or imprisonment for up to three months.

“For the owner whose ID was secured, we have prepared a statement of undertaking not to repeat the violation. This offence is subject to a maximum fine of Rp 25 million or three months of imprisonment,” explained Suryanegara.

This enforcement action on Jalan Teuku Umar Barat marks the third time Badung Satpol PP has conducted such an operation in this location, with previous actions occurring when the road was narrower and during the road widening process.

“We have conducted enforcement at this location three times, from when the road was small to the current widening. We urge the public not to erect structures on public facilities and to maintain cleanliness,” Suryanegara added.
