Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Badung Resort Police in Bali have uncovered a case of alleged embezzlement of a MacBook using a cash on delivery (COD) method, involving a foreign national (WNA) from the United States (US) in the Canggu area, North Kuta.

Acting Head of Public Relations Section of the Badung Resort Police’s Acting Deputy Head of Community Guidance Section, Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, in Badung on Monday, stated that the perpetrator is a man with the initials AHAAS (29), who has been secured for further legal proceedings.

“The perpetrator was arrested by the team from Unit 2 of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Badung Resort Police after allegedly committing the criminal act of embezzlement as referred to in Article 486 of the Criminal Code,” said Ayu.

Ayu explained that the incident occurred on Sunday, 12 April 2026, around 19:40 WITA at a villa on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong, Canggu.

The case began when the reporter Putri Ramadani, along with a witness, delivered an order consisting of one 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 unit and one 512 GB iPhone 17 Pro Max unit to the perpetrator’s address.

When the goods were handed over in a still-sealed condition, the perpetrator briefly inspected them and stated that the order was correct.

However, the perpetrator then took both units upstairs under the pretext of fetching cash.

“The witness tried to warn him because the goods were taken before payment was made, but the perpetrator ignored it and instead ran upstairs,” she said.
