Badung KPU Finds 44 Deceased Voters Still Registered as Political Party Members
The General Elections Commission (KPU) of Badung Regency has discovered that 44 deceased voters are still recorded as members of political parties. This finding resulted from an inspection of 1,459 ineligible voter (TMS) records during the first semester of 2026.
“We found 44 deceased voters still listed in political party memberships out of the total 1,459 ineligible records examined. This step was taken to ensure all electoral data remains accurate and up-to-date,” said the Chairman of Badung KPU, I Gusti Ketut Gede Yusa Arsana Putra, on Sunday (13/09/2026).
The inspection of ineligible voter data included 1,423 deceased voters and 36 voters with TNI/Polri (Military/Police) status. In contrast to the findings regarding deceased voters, Badung KPU found no members of the TNI/Polri registered within political parties.
“Regarding voters with TNI/Polri status, not a single one is recorded as a member of a political party. The findings regarding deceased voters do not automatically indicate they are factually still active in a party, but this requires further scrutiny,” said Yusa Arsermna.
The data for the dozens of deceased citizens still registered is spread across 18 political parties. Fourteen of these parties participated in the 2024 General Election, while the other four are non-participating parties.
“We will submit these 44 records to each respective political party for follow-up and removal from their membership rolls. We want to ensure that every piece of electoral data can be held accountable for its validity,” Yusa Arsana stated.
Badung KPU has ensured that the process of updating electoral data will continue sustainably. Changes in voter status, whether due to death or joining the TNI/Polri, must be recorded consistently.
“This data update is a periodic effort to maintain the quality and accuracy of electoral data. We are committed to supporting the conduct of orderly and transparent elections,” concluded Yusa Arsana.
