Badung Extends Student Registration as Thousands of Seats Remain Vacant

The Badung Regency Education, Youth, and Sports Office (Disdikpora) has extended the registration period for the New Student Admission System (SPMB) for primary and junior high school levels. The extension, which began on Wednesday (8/7/2026), aims to fill the remaining 2,572 vacant seats out of a total capacity of 18,198.

Disdikpora Badung Head I Gusti Made Dwipayana stated on Thursday (9/7/2026) that the extension was necessary because some parents had not yet created accounts or had missed the initial registration window. “This is an opportunity, so please make good use of it,” he said.

The remaining quota consists of 1,627 seats for primary schools and 945 seats for junior high schools. The extension is specifically for the domicile-based registration pathway. Dwipayana confirmed that thousands of students have already been accepted through various pathways, including 8,083 primary students via the domicile route and 6,437 junior high students via the same route.

He stressed that the entire process for filling the remaining seats is conducted strictly online to prevent any form of favouritism or unofficial placement of students. “The most important thing is that there is no gap for ‘entrusting’ students because everything is systemised. Registration remains online,” Dwipayana asserted.

The central Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has locked the total capacity and number of study groups for each school. Dwipayana warned that any violation, such as forcing an unregistered student into a school, would result in the entire school’s data being invalidated. “If there is even one violation or a forced placement, the school will automatically become invalid. This means the child will not be registered in the National Education Database (Dapodik), and the school’s status will be illegitimate,” he concluded.
