The Badung Regency Government (Pemkab Badung) is continuing to refine the implementation of a facial recognition-based attendance system through the ASN Digital application for Civil Servants (ASN). However, the face recognition facility is currently only accessible to users on Android devices, while the iOS version is not yet available.

“Regarding the mobile version that uses facial movements, Android is ready. For iOS, the process is ongoing,” said the Head of the Badung Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo), Ketut Gede Arta, when confirmed on Wednesday (2/9/2026).

The implementation of this facial and movement verification technology is projected to become the primary attendance recording system for Badung Regency civil servants in the future. This step is part of a planned attendance system migration scheduled to be implemented fully starting early next year.

“The full migration is planned for 1 January, and we will be using facial recognition,” said the former South Kuta District Head.

The development of the application for the iOS platform has actually been completed by the Diskominfo Badung technical team. The delay in availability on iPhones is purely due to the ongoing official approval process from the App Store.

“It is not available yet. Everything is currently being handled by Kominfo,” stated a representative from the Badung Agency for Civil Service and Human Resources Development (BKPSDM) regarding the technical hurdles for Apple devices.

During this transition period, the Badung Regency Government is implementing a dual system to ensure that attendance recording for iPhone users continues normally. Employees unable to access the new application are directed to use the existing application, known as SIKAP Badung.

“There are currently two systems in use: SIKAP Badung and Badung Mobile,” explained Gede Arta.

The SIKAP Badung system has been in place for some time and features accurate GPS-based location tracking. This older application can be accessed smoothly on both Android and iPhone devices without technical issues.

“SIKAP Badung is already commonly used and includes coordinate tracking. It is available on both Android and iOS,” said Gede Arta.

The facial recognition mechanism in the ASN Digital application is essentially an upgraded feature of the existing location mapping system. Development is being carried out gradually to ensure application reliability on every platform before SIKAP Badung is fully replaced in January 2027.

“Now, since we are using facial recognition, the system must be upgraded. The coordinates are already there, just like in SIKAP,” concluded Gede Arta.
