The Badung Regency Government (Pemkab Badung) has completed the renovation of 151 primary schools (SD) out of a total of 246 schools by 2025. In addition to the primary level, renovations have also targeted more than 20 junior secondary school (SMP) buildings across Badung.

“By 2025, we have carried out renovations on 151 primary schools out of the 246 in Badung Regency. As for junior secondary schools, more than 20 have been done,” said the Head of the Education, Youth, and Sports Office (Disdikpora) of Badung, I Gusti Made Dwipayana, during a meeting with Commission IV of the Badung Regency DPRD on Monday (13/4/2026).

The condition of the buildings being repaired consists mainly of schools built in the 2016 and 2017 period. These buildings have been reported to have suffered quite severe damage, making urgent rehabilitation necessary.

“This is the condition of some schools that we have surveyed, so most of them are schools built in 2016 and 2017. So, many have already experienced damage,” said Dwipayana.

Entering the 2026 fiscal year, the Badung Disdikpora is working on 53 repair packages for the primary school level. In addition, there are 30 special maintenance packages to address the impacts of extreme weather disasters that occurred recently.

“We are working on 53 packages for primary schools, then 30 maintenance packages due to the recent disaster. For the strong winds and heavy rain last February 2026 in some schools, 21 schools received handling,” Dwipayana explained.

According to Dwi, the maintenance funds have been prepared so that the physical handling of affected schools can be executed immediately. Currently, all activity packages are in the procurement process through the Goods/Services Procurement Work Unit (UKPBJ).

The total budget requirement to complete all school damages in Badung reaches Rp 247 billion. This amount includes a funding shortfall of Rp 21 billion for 2025 and proposed needs for 2026 amounting to Rp 113 billion.

“So, for the total activities planned up to 2026, we are still short by Rp 134 billion if we want to complete all the damaged schools. The 2026 proposal needs Rp 113 billion, plus the delayed construction from 2025 of Rp 21 billion, totaling Rp 247 billion,” Dwipayana clarified.

For the junior secondary level, the Badung Regency Government projects the construction of new classrooms (RKB) in four schools valued at Rp 59.5 billion. In addition to classrooms, Rp 6.7 billion has been allocated for the construction of utility infrastructure in five junior secondary schools.
