Investment opportunities abound in Bantul

The Bantul regency offers many promising investment opportunities, such as hotels, restaurants and other tourist facilities.

From the prepared master plan, investors can select areas projected for each land use, such as farming, tourism, housing, industry, trade and services.

For the tourism sector, the following districts are recommended: Imogiri, Kasihan, Bantul, Banguntapan, Pundong, Pajangan, Sewon, Kretek, Dlingo, Srandakan, Piyungan, Sanden and Pleret. For those interested in agro-industry etc. relevant policies have also been clearly prepared in the laws and regulations.

Although about 1.5 million tourists visit the regency each year, there are no star-rated hotels around. With this in mind, the Bantul regency administration is now offering some incentives to get investors interested in building star-rated hotels in the area.

The farming sector, agribusiness in particular, is also promising. The southern part of Bantul, especially Sanden district, is famous for producing quality onions. One of the residents has discovered a high quality type of onion, which has been patented and named "Tiron Onion".

The fertile area and its favorable climate are definitely suitable for planting various types of vegetables and fruit.

Trade is also lucrative. The people of Bantul regency are well known as hard workers and superior craftsmen. Eighty-five percent of the earthenware made in Kasongan district and the decorative inlaid work made in Bangunjiwo district are made for export.

A wide range of handicrafts encompassing leather products, dried flowers, wooden masks, metal products, batik and many others absorb about 18,000 workers.

Currently, foreign investors are also involved in the local handicraft industry.
