Badminton Hall in Bumiayu Brebes Collapses, Three Residents Killed, Here is the Chronology

A badminton hall known as Hogwan, located in Dukuhturi Village, Bumiayu District, Brebes Regency, Central Java, collapsed on Sunday (30/8/2026). Following the incident, three people died after being struck by building materials.

Bumiayu Police Chief AKP Edi Mardianto said the Hogwan badminton hall collapsed at around 05:30 WIB. The collapsed building materials then fell on three houses at the front of the building. He said that after receiving a report about the incident, a number of Bumiayu Police personnel were immediately deployed to the location.

Based on witness accounts, residents heard a loud bang. When they came out of their homes to check the source of the noise, residents saw that the badminton hall had collapsed. After approaching the rubble, residents saw two children trapped under building materials.

“The first two victims found were children. Officers together with residents then carried out an evacuation and took the victims to hospital for further treatment,” said AKP Edi.

After the discovery of the two children trapped in the rubble, a joint SAR team consisting of TNI-Polri personnel, the Brebes Regency BPBD and local residents continued the process of clearing the debris. A search for possible other victims was also carried out.
