Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds hit Tasikmalaya City, causing two parked vehicles to be damaged after being struck by falling trees. The incident occurred on Saturday (28/3), and fortunately, there were no fatalities in this disaster.

The Acting Head of the Tasikmalaya City Regional Disaster Management Agency, Hanapi, stated that the heavy rain and strong winds affected several areas in Tasikmalaya City, resulting in two cars being hit by trees. However, the severe weather caused trees to fall, obstructing protocol roads, with some streets partially flooded.

“Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds has caused two parked vehicles under trees to be struck, damaging both quite severely in the cabin area, including dented fronts. However, there were no fatalities in the incident, and joint teams from TNI, Polri, and BPBD are working to evacuate the fallen trees using chainsaws,” he said on Sunday (23/2026).

According to him, joint teams from TNI, Polri, and BPBD are moving to evacuate fallen trees blocking the road using chainsaws, including evacuating the two cars hit by trees. However, the evacuation process for the fallen trees is taking time due to entangled power lines.

“Based on reports received by the Tasikmalaya City BPBD, fallen trees occurred on Jalan Letjen Mashudi, blocking road access in Kawalu, the Centro cafe parking area, Jalan KH Lukmanul Hakim, Tuguraja Village, Cihideung Subdistrict, hitting two vehicles; Jalan Saptamarga blocked by trees; Sutisna Senjaya, hitting the yard and fish pond; Gobang, Purbaratu Village; Singkup Village, Purbaratu Subdistrict; power lines,” he said.

However, there were no fatalities, though residents incurred losses, based on data from Sadaasih, Silih Asih, Sukaasih Village, Sukanagara, Purbaratu Subdistrict, Panunggal Village, Setiaratu Village, Cibeureum Subdistrict.

“The heavy rain that has been occurring for several days has caused PLN electricity poles in Brigif Galuh 13 and Tuguraja Village, Cihideung Subdistrict, to collapse, including fallen trees. We urge the public to always remain alert given the high rainfall, and to report any incidents immediately,” he concluded.
