Bad hotel service
Bad hotel service
From Media Indonesia
From Dec. 29 to 31, 1994 I spent my holidays in Manado (North
Sulawesi) enjoying the Bunaken sea park. Then I went to stay at
the Kawanua City Hotel. I particularly chose this hotel because
it is under the management of the well-known Sahid Group.
But in reality I was very disappointed in the conditions and
services of the hotel. The air condition was not fully
functional. My complaints about it went unanswered. The condition
of the swimming pool was alarmingly poor. On the whole the hotel
was not comfortable.
What disappointed me more was the incredible prices of the
goods in the room's mini bar. A small bottle of beer cost Rp
9,900, whereas the market price is Rp 2000. A small bottle of
aqua was priced at Rp 4,500 compared to a market price of Rp 500.
And the price of fried peanuts was Rp 2,500. You can buy the same
stuff outside for only Rp 500.
I was charged Rp 22,869 to make a long distant call (less than
three minutes) to Jakarta, at night. I often stay in a four-star
or five-star hotels, but I cannot recall ever paying such a high
price, as I did in this hotel.
This sort of management will certainly scare domestic and
foreign customers from making this hotel their choice.
Disappointed customers will serve as a bad advertisement for the
hotel. I hope the Sahid Group management looks into the matter
and finds ways to improve the conditions.
