Back to the barracks
Back to the barracks
From Rakyat Merdeka
When the military had a dual function role, nearly all strategic as well as functional positions, from state departments to the subdistrict level, were held by military personnel. This resulted in conflicts between civilians and the military.
Now the situation is reversed. The soldiers have returned to their barracks. Their duty is to safeguard the nation's sovereignty, while security matters are handled by the police.
This civilianization seems to have gone too far. Freedom in democracy is being used at the expense of efficiency. The Indonesian Military (TNI) are being deprived of its role in the government.
It goes without saying that to protect this country, TNI is still needed. TNI must not be indifferent to national issues.
