Back to Normal: Jasa Marga Halts Contraflow on Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road
CIKAMPEK, KOMPAS.com - PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has announced the cessation of contraflow traffic engineering on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road segment towards Cikampek from KM 36 to KM 70. This measure, which was applied situationally on an open-closed basis since 17 March 2026 at the discretion of the police, has now been officially halted. Currently, traffic conditions on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road have returned to normal in both directions. “Based on field traffic monitoring, the peak vehicle volume occurred on 18 March 2026. Subsequently, from 19 March 2026 shift 3 to 20 March 2026, traffic volumes in both directions were observed to be sufficiently controlled, leading to the normalisation of traffic and the discontinuation of contraflow,” stated Ria in a press release received by Kompas.com on Friday (20/3/2026). Ria also advised all Trans Java toll road users to prioritise safety during their journeys, ensure that drivers and vehicles are in prime condition, that vehicle fuel is sufficient, and that electronic money balances are adequate before entering the toll road. “Toll users are also expected to continue complying with signs and instructions from on-site officers,” added Ria. Toll road users can update traffic information through the Travoy application and the official social media of Jasamarga Transjawa Tol. This situation arose due to a surge in vehicle volumes on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road segment, resulting in slowed traffic flow at several points. Several holidaymakers had to endure severe congestion, significantly delaying their journeys. In fact, some holidaymakers complained that it took up to five hours to enter the Cikampek toll from Bekasi, compared to the usual 45 minutes.
