This policy is a historic step. President Prabowo has ensured that Indonesia’s natural resource wealth, such as palm oil, coal, and iron, will no longer flow overseas uncontrolled by the state. Eko said the regulation signals the state’s presence to ensure the nation’s wealth flows to the people. “Now the state is present to oversee, manage, and ensure that the proceeds truly return to the people,” he added.

However, he warned that those implementing the regulation must be truly free from vested interests. Operators in the sector must also be given legal certainty.

“The state-owned enterprises designated must be competent and free from interests. Then, legal certainty for business players. The transition must be smooth so that exports are not disrupted and entrepreneurs do not relocate to other countries,” he said.

He also called for transparency throughout the process. He ensured that DPR Commission VI will oversee as well.

“And transparency. The DPR will tightly monitor so that every rupiah from the export proceeds of natural resource commodities actually goes into the state treasury,” he said.

Earlier, Prabowo issued the Government Regulation on the Governance of Export of Natural Resource Commodities. The issue of this Government Regulation aims to regulate the export of Indonesia’s natural resource commodities to enhance the welfare of the people.

“Today the Government of the Republic of Indonesia I lead issued a Government Regulation on the Governance of Export of Natural Resource Commodities,” Prabowo said during a plenary session at the DPR RI, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (20/5).

Prabowo said the issuance of this Government Regulation is a strategic step to strengthen the governance of exports of natural resource commodities. He said all sales of natural resource exports will be managed through the BUMN.

“The issuance of this Government Regulation is a strategic step to strengthen the governance of our natural resource export commodities. The sale of all our natural resource outputs, starting with palm oil, coal, and iron alloys, must be sold through the state-owned enterprises designated by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia as the sole exporters,” he said.
