JAKARTA — Not only residents, but also rubbish collection workers are complaining about Jakarta’s waste transportation system.

One of the recent rubbish piles that has been complained about is located at the temporary storage point (TPS) in front of the SPPG Cakung Timur, East Jakarta.

A rubbish collector, Amri (not his real name), compared the waste handling during Jakarta’s leadership under Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok.

He also complained about the facilities and infrastructure used for transportation.

“The vehicles are already old. In Ahok’s time, they were already replaced,” he added.

According to Amri, the workload for rubbish collectors increases during Eid al-Fitr. This is because the public generally produces more household waste.

The situation is worsened by the TPST Bantargebang operations not yet fully recovered. Rubbish truck drivers still have to queue for hours to enter the final disposal site area.

“So everything in Jakarta is still limited everywhere. Earlier, from 09:00 WIB to 15:00 WIB, I could only leave Bantargebang,” he revealed.

This TPS has come under public scrutiny after it was discovered to be located right in front of the SPPG for the free nutritious meal programme (MBG).

Meanwhile, the mountain of rubbish at the TPS belonging to RW 003 Cakung residents was transported yesterday using six rubbish trucks.
