Back Active in Parliament, Sahroni Pledges Not to Accept Salary Until 2029
Jakarta – Ahmad Sahroni, Deputy Chair of Commission III at the House of Representatives (DPR), has stated that he will not accept his parliamentary salary until the end of his term in 2029.
Sahroni said that all salary payments received as a DPR member will be channelled towards social activities through the Kitabisa Foundation.
“My initiative is to hand over my DPR salary to the Kitabisa Foundation so it can be used properly to help those in need. Since this is transparent in nature and the foundation is open, we are entrusting it to Kitabisa. It makes things cleaner,” Sahroni told journalists at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Sahroni explained that he selected the Kitabisa Foundation to ensure the distribution of funds operates transparently and can be monitored publicly.
“Kitabisa will know which individuals need assistance and which assistance is most urgent and beneficial for those in need. If we distribute it ourselves, sometimes some people know about it and some don’t. But if we hand it over to Kitabisa, it is reported in an open space, in the public realm,” he said.
He noted that the salary received as a DPR member will be automatically deducted and channelled to Kitabisa.
Sahroni said the decision was made as a form of moral responsibility following various controversies surrounding him that occurred previously.
“Hopefully this can help. Because people previously thought I was taking public money, receiving taxpayer funds. For all this time, we never knew what the salary amount was. This demonstrates that there are no ulterior motives, but personally, since I am also a businessman, I want to give it to those in need through the Kitabisa Foundation,” Sahroni concluded.
