Baby Found Near Tarakanita Primary School in South Jakarta

A live baby boy was found near the entrance of Tarakanita I Elementary School, Jalan Barito II No. 54 RT 02/04, Kramat Pela, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (4 March) at 04:00 WIB. The South Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head, AKBP Murodih, said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday: ‘A live baby boy was found under a tree beside the garden near the entrance of Tarakanita I Elementary School, Jalan Barito II No. 54 RT 02/04, Kramat Pela, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.’ Initially, Murodih said, the first witness was a teacher arriving at the school to prepare for teaching. However, upon arriving at the gate of the school, the witness saw a suspicious item beside the garden. The teacher then called the school security guard to check the item together. The second witness and the first witness immediately looked at the item and saw a live baby wrapped in a floral-patterned blanket. The second witness then reported to the RW (neighbourhood association) chief, who immediately contacted the Bhabinkamtibmas of Kramat Pela. Finally, the duty officers arrived at the scene at 05:00 WIB to take further action. ‘At 06:00 WIB, the baby was taken to the Kebayoran Baru District Puskesmas for examination by a doctor,’ he said. The baby was then handed over to the South Jakarta Suku Dinas Social (Sudinsos) and the case is being handled by Kebayoran Baru Police Sector (Polsek Kebayoran Baru). ‘From CCTV footage, there was a man who placed the baby at around 03:05 WIB,’ he said. This baby discovery is the second such case in South Jakarta publicly reported by the media within the last three days. Previously, a two-day-old baby girl named Ameera Ramadhani was allegedly abandoned by her older brother, Zidan (12), in a nasi uduk cart in front of a resident’s house on Jalan Pejaten Raya RT 01/02, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Tuesday afternoon (3/3), after their mother died during childbirth. ‘Assalamualaikum, Ibu/Bapak who found my sister. I, Zidan, am asking for help to care for my sister because my mother died during childbirth,’ the letter written by Zidan in Jakarta on Thursday (5/3) says. In the letter, the older brother asks for the younger sister to be treated as his own child.
