Baby Found in Pasar Minggu Taken to Tunas Bangsa Social Welfare Home, Cipayung

Jakarta (ANTARA) – A baby girl, two days old, found inside a nasi uduk cart outside a resident’s house on Jalan Pejaten Raya RT 01/02, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, has been taken to the Panti Sosial Asuhan Anak Balita Tunas Bangsa, Cipayung, East Jakarta.

‘Sudah kita serahkan ke panti balita,’ said Bernard Tambunan, head of the South Jakarta Suku Dinas Sosial (Sudinsos), when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday. During the afternoon, Sudinsos Jakarta Selatan (Jaksel) handed the abandoned infant to a social welfare home in East Jakarta. He expressed hope that by entrusting the baby to the social welfare home, prospective adoptive parents would be able to care for her in accordance with existing procedures. ‘If those who want to adopt, just come directly to the toddler home where there are procedures,’ he said.

Pasar Minggu Police Chief Comm. Anggiat Sinambela said the baby was found at 17.30 WIB and reported to police at 17.43 WIB.

After receiving the information, Pasar Minggu Police Station personnel went to the scene to confirm the baby’s condition with witnesses. The baby was found wearing blue bear-patterned clothing and wrapped in a white blanket. In the bag there were also items including formula milk, wet wipes, gloves and a slip of paper with writing.

The baby girl is estimated to be two days old based on the note written by a person named Zidan. He is suspected of abandoning the baby at the scene. Witnesses subsequently reported the discovery to the RT and police. Information about the baby’s discovery was also reported to Pasar Minggu Police Station via the station’s WhatsApp group.

Subsequently, the Pasar Minggu Police Patrol Function conducted CCTV reviews and coordinated with RT, the Forum for Community Vigilance (FKDM), Pasar Minggu Health Centre (Puskesmas) and the South Jakarta Social Service. ‘At 19.55 WIB, the baby girl was brought to Pasar Minggu Health Centre for further medical treatment,’ he said.
