Baby Found in a Paper Bag in Front of Kebayoran Baru School

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A baby boy was found under a tree in front of Tarakanita I Elementary School, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, 4 February 2026. The incident began when a teacher, Maryono (44), arrived at the school at 04:00 local time. In front of the school gate, Maryono spotted suspicious items beside the garden and called the school security guard to inspect them. There, authorities found a baby who was estimated to be under seven days old. Along with the infant, several baby necessities were found. Police believe someone deliberately left the baby there, noting that the situation suggested careful preparation of the baby’s belongings. The baby was found in a healthy condition and was taken to Kebayoran Baru Health Centre for further examination. Meanwhile, investigators are still looking into the person who abandoned the baby.
