Baby AR Can Be Returned to Birth Family Despite Many Prospective Adopters
JAKARTA — The Tunas Bangsa Social Shelter for Young Children (PSAA) in Cipayung, East Jakarta, says the birth family of baby AR still has a chance to reclaim the child. Baby AR was previously found abandoned by their elder sibling in the cart of a nasi uduk seller at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.
Head of PSAA Tunas Bangsa, Rida Mufrida, said the possibility of return remains open until there is a court ruling on the child’s status. She added that before any court process, the shelter announced the child’s information in newspaper advertisements three times. The aim is that if any relative comes forward, they can be acted upon promptly.
‘If someone challenges, that means it’s being handled. If no one challenges, then what can we do? No one claims the child,’ she said.
Baby AR was found by a resident named Dinda (20) at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Tuesday 3 March 2026. The baby was wrapped in blue teddy bear clothing and a baby blanket, stored in a black shopper bag together with milk, wet wipes, gloves, and a slip of paper bearing the baby’s name AR.
‘Assalamualaikum, to the father/mother who finds my sister/brother… I do not want his/her future to be like mine. Thank you,’ wrote Z in the note.
