Babies security first
In response to the letter Bunda baby blues published in The Jakarta Post (June 4) we, on behalf of the management and staff, would like to apologize for the inconvenience Mrs. Ade and her husband experienced.
Having sought an explanation for the inconvenience, we found there was ineffective communication between the nurses and patient as well as among the nurses themselves. The patient should have been advised by the nursing staff on what caused the delay instead of just saying tunggu sebentar (wait a minute).
The patient should have been asked to postpone her request for her baby to be brought into her room as it was approaching public visiting hour. The nursing staff should have explained clearly to Mrs. Ade that during public visiting hours, babies are laid in their cribs in the baby room for security and contamination reasons.
But we do recognize the need to improve our service. We have taken action at both management and staff level regarding this case.
