Pangkalpinang (ANTARA) – The Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Agency of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province said exports of white pepper, also known as Muntok white pepper, totalled 171,007 kilograms in September 2026, up from 111,016 kilograms the previous month. The commodity was exported to five countries.

“During September this year, white pepper was exported to five countries: Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and Taiwan, showing a positive trend,” said Herwintarti, head of the Bangka Belitung Quarantine Agency, in Pangkalpinang on Thursday.

She said farmers in the province exported 171,007 kilograms of white pepper in September 2026, worth Rp28.22 billion, to Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and Taiwan.

In August 2026, Bangka Belitung’s white pepper exports totalled 111,016 kilograms, worth Rp18.28 billion. This was an increase from July 2026, when exports reached 81,115 kilograms, valued at Rp13.90 billion.

She said the Quarantine Agency continued to support businesses through education and assistance, help with meeting technical requirements and traceability standards, and quarantine inspections and measures during transport and export.

“Although Bangka pepper is currently shipped through Tanjung Priok before being exported, the Indonesian Quarantine Agency hopes that in future the commodity can be exported directly from Bangka Belitung,” she said.

“We are encouraging exports to take place directly from Bangka Belitung, so that more of the added value and economic benefits can be felt by the region, farmers and MSMEs [micro, small and medium-sized enterprises],” she said.
