Pangkalpinang (ANTARA) - The Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Government is partnering with Gadjah Mada University (UGM) to strengthen education, research, studies, and human resource development, in order to create superior human resources in the region. “We hope this collaboration can provide real contributions to the progress of this region,” said Bangka Belitung Governor Hidayat Arsani after signing the MoU with UGM Rector Ova Emilia in Yogyakarta on Tuesday. He stated that the signing of this joint agreement or Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UGM is to establish a partnership relationship between the parties for institutional development by utilising available resources related to education, research, human resource development, and community service in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. “This cooperation is a manifestation of our joint commitment to building the region through strengthening education, research, community service, as well as human resource and technology development,” he said. According to him, future development challenges require a science-based approach, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration. “Synergy between local government and the academic world is key to delivering targeted and sustainable development solutions and programmes,” he said. According to him, through this cooperation, the Bangka Belitung Provincial Government will produce various concrete programmes that have a positive impact on the community, from improving the quality of human resources, developing regional potential, research downstreaming, to strengthening regional competitiveness. “This collaboration can serve as a bridge for the young generation of Bangka Belitung in gaining better access to education and capacity building, so they can contribute to regional development in the future,” he said. UGM Rector Ova Emilia expressed appreciation and thanks for the trust given by the Bangka Belitung Provincial Government in establishing strategic cooperation through the signing of the memorandum of understanding. “This collaboration is an important step in strengthening synergy between universities and local government,” she said.
