Babel provides 6,000 free halal certificates to support October mandatory halal scheme

The Bangka Belitung Provincial Government is providing free processing for 6,000 halal certificates for micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products to support the government’s policy of implementing mandatory halal certification by October 2026.

“This year, the Bangka Belitung Provincial Government has secured a quota of 6,000 free halal certificates,” stated the Governor of Bangka Belitung, Hidayut Arsani, as conveyed by the Expert Staff for Community and Human Resources, Andri Nurtito, during the opening of the October 2026 Mandatory Halal socialisation in Pangkalpinang on Thursday.

He noted that this socialisation activity serves to accelerate halal certification for business actors and MSMEs in the Bangka Belitung Province to drive the mandatory halal implementation. “This activity holds very strategic value and is part of the national effort to strengthen and implement halal products in Indonesia, specifically in Bangka Belitung,” he said.

He further stated that through this socialisation, a unified understanding can be achieved regarding the importance of halal certification as a form of consumer protection and a means to increase the competitiveness of national products. “Mandatory halal certification is strategic for business development, as it can increase product added value, expand markets, enhance consumer trust, and strengthen product competitiveness in the global market,” he added.

Additionally, halal certification can build a healthy, transparent, and productive supply chain, thereby driving economic growth and community welfare. The free halal certification available this year is part of the Free Halal Certificate (Sehati) programme from the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) of the Republic of Indonesia, designed to accelerate the halal certification of MSME products in the region.
