Babel Police Seize 231 Tin Ingots Without Documents in Pangkalpinang
The Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Police has seized 231 tin ingots weighing approximately 4.7 tonnes, suspected of being shipped to Tangerang, Banten, without the required documents.
Sub-directorate of Law Enforcement of Ditpolairud Babel Police, AKBP Bim Rekoaji, stated on Friday in Pangkalpinang that two individuals suspected of involvement in the case were also detained, namely YG, the driver, and HA, the alleged owner of the goods.
“The arrest of the perpetrators was carried out on Thursday evening (18/6). In this disclosure, we detained a driver with the initials YG and HA, who is suspected of being the owner of the tin ingots. Both were detained at different locations,” he said.
He explained that the case came to light following a tip-off from the public regarding the suspected shipment of tin ingots without complete documents to Pangkalbalam Port. Following up on the information, officers conducted an investigation and secured a white open-bed truck carrying six tin ingots near the Baturusa River Bridge in Selindung, Pangkalpinang.
Based on the examination of YG, officers then proceeded to HA’s house in Pagarawan Village, Bangka Regency. “After obtaining information from YG, we moved to HA’s house. At the location, 225 tin ingots weighing approximately 4,635 kilogrammes were found stored in the garage,” he said.
According to information obtained by investigators, the tin ingots were planned to be shipped to Tangerang City using a truck. Subsequently, both suspects along with the evidence were taken to the Ditpolairud Headquarters of the Babel Police for further investigation.
In the operation, police seized 231 tin ingots weighing approximately 4,743 kilogrammes, two cargo vehicles, and a sum of cash. The perpetrators are charged under Article 161 of Law Number 2 of 2025 concerning the Fourth Amendment to Law Number 4 of 2009 on Mineral and Coal Mining, in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments.
Head of Public Relations of the Babel Police, Commissioner Agus Sugiyarso, confirmed the case disclosure. According to him, the successful operation is part of the Babel Police’s efforts to tackle legal violations in the mining and mineral trade sectors. “This is the Babel Police’s effort to strictly enforce the law against all forms of criminal acts that can result in financial or state asset losses,” he said.
