Babel BPBD Inventories Logistics to Anticipate Clean Water Crisis
The Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province is inventorying logistics and infrastructure for drought management to anticipate a clean water crisis resulting from the extreme dry season in the region. “This is important so that drought management can be handled properly,” said Head of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province BPBD, Budi Utama, in Pangkalpinang on Tuesday. He stated that in inventorying the logistics and infrastructure for drought management, such as clean water tanker trucks, water reservoirs, and others, the Provincial BPBD has held coordination meetings with district and city governments as well as companies and other relevant agencies regarding handling the clean water crisis during this year’s extreme dry season. “We are calculating the capacity and infrastructure owned by the districts and cities, so that when drought and a clean water crisis occur in an area, it can be handled properly,” he said. “Clean water sources in the Bangka Belitung Islands are limited. The government must not fail to be present to assist communities affected by drought and clean water shortages during this dry season,” he added. According to him, in the distribution of clean water aid later, the Provincial BPBD will prioritise places of worship, schools, Islamic boarding schools, and residents who have difficulty obtaining clean water.
