Ba'asyir to be questioned on Monday

JAKARTA: Police will start questioning suspected terrorist Abu Bakar Ba'asyir over his alleged role in the country's terrorist attacks on Monday.

"We already sent the summon letter to the director-general for penitentiaries yesterday (Thursday). We will question him on Monday," said Brig. Gen. Pranowo, director of the National Police Antiterrorism and Bomb Division on Friday.

Police named Ba'asyir a terrorist suspect on April 16 and charged him under Articles 14, 15, 17 and 18 of Law No. 15/2003 on Antiterrorism. He could be sentenced to death if convicted.

Ba'asyir, who is currently imprisoned at the Salemba Penitentiary for immigration violations and document fraud, will complete his jail term on April 29. --JP
