B50 Distributed Across 6,050 Petrol Stations, DPR: Complete Transition and Maintain Quality
Jamaludin Malik, a member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the Golkar Party, has welcomed the progress of B50 biodiesel implementation, which has now been distributed across 6,050 of the total 6,412 petrol stations supplying Biosolar, representing approximately 94%. This expansion demonstrates that the energy independence policy is beginning to take tangible effect at the consumer level.
“We support the policy direction of President Prabowo Subianto, as implemented by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, through the application of B50. This is a strategic step to reduce dependence on diesel imports, save foreign exchange, and optimise the energy resources available domestically,” said Jamaludin, as reported on Thursday (10/9).
According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, B50 distribution from July to 7 September 202_ [Note: Source text contains 2026] reached approximately 3.4 million kilolitres. Overall, biodiesel distribution throughout the period reached approximately 10.69 million kilolitres, consisting of B40 distribution of about 7.27 million kilolitres and B50 of about 3.4 million kilolitres. Out of 104 biodiesel delivery points, 76 points have distributed B50, while the remaining 28 points are still in the transition period.
According to Jamaludin, while this achievement is a positive development, the completion of the transition across all regions must be closely monitored. The government, alongside Pertamina and relevant business entities, needs to ensure that the 362 petrol stations still in the transition phase can immediately distribute B50 once the relaxation period for exhausting B40 stocks ends on 30 September.
“The transition to B50 must be completed in an orderly and equitable manner. We must ensure that no regions are left behind due to issues with terminals, blending facilities, distribution, or petrol station readiness. Equitable energy availability is a vital component of energy justice,” he stated.
He also expressed appreciation for the results of B50 testing on heavy mining machinery, which was conducted over 1,000 hours across three companies without significant issues being found. Testing on several vehicles has also reached 50,000 kilometres, while older-specification vehicles can reach 37,000 kilometres before requiring a filter change.
In his view, these testing results should be reinforced with continuous research and development, quality standard supervision, and long-term monitoring of engine performance. The implementation of B50 must also provide increasing economic benefits for palm oil farmers, cooperatives, processing industries, and the national workforce, while maintaining the sustainability of raw materials.
“B50 must be built as part of a strong national energy ecosystem, not merely as a fuel blending programme. If quality, supply, distribution, technological readiness, and raw material sustainability are continuously maintained, the policies of President Prabso Subianto and Minister Bahlil can serve as a vital foundation towards energy self-sufficiency while strengthening national industry,” Jamaludin concluded.
