B50 Biodiesel to Be Sold from 1 July 2026, Quality and Distribution Secure?

The government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), has recorded positive results from trials of 50 per cent biodiesel (B50) in the automotive sector, confirming it meets the required specifications and is ready for implementation on 1 July 2026. Commodity Expert at CNBC Indonesia Research, Emanuella Bungasmara Ega Tirta, assessed that the transition from B40 to B50 utilisation is proceeding smoothly, supported by successful trials conducted on various types of diesel engines. Nevertheless, challenges remain regarding on-the-ground implementation, particularly in production and distribution involving business entities that supply and distribute B50.
