Azerbaijan has sent an additional 82 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Iran, the APA news agency reported on Wednesday (18/3/2026). The aid was transported via five trucks carrying 76 tonnes of food as well as 6 tonnes of medicines and medical equipment.

On 11 March, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that more than 25 tonnes of humanitarian aid had been sent to Iran on the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev.

This aid demonstrates support from Iran’s neighbouring countries in the face of attacks by the US and Israel. Previously, the Tajik government also sent 110 trucks carrying more than 3,600 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Iran to assist its people amid the struggle to defend the country.

“Based on the instructions of President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, 3,610 tonnes of humanitarian aid has been delivered to the friendly and brotherly people of Iran,” the Tajik presidential office said in its statement on Wednesday.

“The Tajik humanitarian aid convoy, consisting of 110 large trucks, departed for Iran on the morning of 18 March and will arrive shortly,” the statement added.

The humanitarian aid for Iran consists of 45 tonnes of medicines and medical supplies, as well as hygiene equipment, children’s clothing, food, household goods, bedding, tents, and building materials, according to the Tajik presidential statement.

Indonesia is not left behind. PMI General Chairman Jusuf Kalla met with Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, at the PMI Central Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday. The meeting discussed the delivery of humanitarian aid in the form of medical equipment and medicines for Iran’s civilian population.

On 28 February, the US and Israel launched attacks on several targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and killing civilians.

Iran retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities across the Middle East.

The US and Israel initially claimed that the “pre-emptive strikes” were necessary to counter threats from Iran’s nuclear programme. However, they later stated that the objective was to replace the ruling regime in Iran.
