Azerbaijan pushes for investment and expansion of cooperation with Indonesia - ANTARA News
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Indonesia, Ramil Rzayev Abil Oglu, highlighted substantial opportunities to strengthen economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Indonesia during the commemorations of the 108th Anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Independence in Jakarta, on Thursday.
‘Azerbaijan attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Indonesia and wishes to further expand and deepen the cooperation,’ said Rzayev.
He said the diplomatic ties established since 1992 have continued to develop consistently through reinforced bilateral cooperation and high-level political dialogue.
According to him, Azerbaijan also appreciates Indonesia’s stance supporting Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, including in the reintegration process following occupation.
Over the past three decades, the two countries have actively cooperated in various international forums, such as the United Nations (UN), the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and most recently within the framework of the D-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation.
‘In this regard, we greatly appreciate Indonesia’s valuable support for Azerbaijan’s accession to the D-8 in 2024,’ he said.
Rzayev assessed that the increasingly strong bilateral relationship opens up significant opportunities for expanding economic cooperation. Azerbaijan is currently diversifying its economy and strengthening its position as a logistics and energy hub in the Eurasia region.
Therefore, he urged Indonesian companies to seize investment opportunities in the logistics sector, industrial processing, construction, agriculture, and green energy.
‘Our government also provides attractive incentives and strong institutional support for all investors,’ he said.
He added that the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions, being developed through modern industrial and agricultural zones, are seen as having great potential for investment by Indonesian companies.
Beyond the economy, education and cultural exchange remain fundamental foundations of the relationship between the two countries. The Indonesian Cultural Centre, operating since 2010 in Azerbaijan, is seen as a symbol of friendship and mutual cultural understanding between the two peoples.
Cooperation in technology, green energy, digital transformation, and tourism also appear promising for continued development.
‘Specifically, halal tourism, Islamic cultural tourism, and medical tourism are key sectors for joint development by both countries,’ said Rzayev.
Meanwhile, Labour Minister Yassierli congratulated Azerbaijan on its 108th Independence Day and assessed that the relationship between the two countries has continued to develop positively over the past three decades.
‘Over the last three decades, the partnership between Indonesia and Azerbaijan has grown steadily across various strategic sectors, supported by a shared commitment to promoting development, peace, and shared prosperity,’ he said.
Looking ahead, Yassierli hopes for strengthened cooperation in social security, education and vocational training, the development of skills among the youth workforce, the labour market, and the protection of migrant workers’ social security.
