Azerbaijan condemns drone attack on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic
Baku, 5 March — The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday strongly condemned a drone attack on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic launched from Iranian territory, describing the attack as a violation of the norms and principles of international law. The attack occurred around midday on Thursday. One drone struck the terminal building at Nakhchivan International Airport, injuring two civilians and causing structural damage, while another drone fell near a school in Shakarabad Village, the ministry said in a statement. The ministry said the action would exacerbate regional tensions and directly contravene the principles of international law. Nakhchivan is an Azerbaijani exclave separated from the rest of the country by Armenia and borders Armenia, Iran, and Türkiye.
